Within a Drupal 5.14 install, with a properly configured version of Avatar Selection v5.x-2.7 installed - with the option to allow users to upload their own pictures - the access permission added by the User Picture Permissions module ( http://drupal.org/project/user_pic_perm ) is not showing in the Edit Profile screen. What I'm trying to do here is provide a number of avatars through the Avatar Selection module for those in entry level roles on my site, but allow those in more trusted roles to upload and have their own unique ones. Something I thought the User Picture Permissions module would help on, as I can set it to block the display of someone's picture if I find it unsuitable.

stella commentedI had a quick look at this issue and think it's a problem that needs to be overcome by the User Picture Permissions module.
Cheers,

IreneKraus commentedStella,
I'd have to agree! Decided to dump that module in favor of the Avatar Approval module:
http://drupal.org/project/avatarapproval
Only complaint I have with that one is that you have to approve ALL the existing avatars selections as soon as you install it on a live site! (Yet another module with no HELP file!) If you forget to do that, then trouble can ensue because someone's previously selected and used avatar goes missing. (And, they can come into the system and start trying to 'fix' it, leading to loads of frustration!)
A reminder to outline permission guidelines for who would or would not be allowed a personal picture, roles that would be allowed to have one, etc. would also help. (For those coming in new to a site.)

IreneKraus commentedUpdate! Seems I spoke too soon! The Avatar Approval module also appears to conflict with Avatar Selection. For example, on a fresh install on a development server, it does appear to function okay. However, when you go to 'approve' an avatar, the array display is shown 'naked' and without the rest of the normal Drupal page! If I try installing it on a site with several existing users with existing avatar selections, I get SQL errors... <*sigh*> Looks like that is misbehaving too.

mtndan commentedHi - yes, I plan to upgrade it when we update our site to 6...

mtndan commentedStarting work on D6 version - unless someone wants to dig deeper I think this problem is limited to conflict with the Avatar modules...
