Description

Congratulations developers on the port to Drupal6!

You've done great work and I think Drigg is about ready for a stable release.

Perhaps the main developers can do a drigg 6.x-1.0-rc (or even a 6.x-1.0-beta) to get more people testing the code for any bugs we might have missed.

Here are the remaining bugs for 6.x
http://drupal.org/project/issues?projects=190927&versions=331244&categor...

A majority of them are not that critical and can wait for future releases.

I think if we can get the following bugs fixed it will be ready for a Release Candidate:
#342297: Story's URL: The URL is not functioning! for specific URLs
#350218: User warning: Unknown column 'n.type'

The others are not important enough to delay an otherwise stable release:
#337775: Remove all traces of "drigg_home"
#339918: Unnecessary Dependency for Embedded Objects Module
#350460: RSS Imported Scoop URL Display Issue
#337746: modifying scoops resets "made popular time"

What does everyone else think?

Apparently there are no major bugs - so let it now come out of beta and be announced as at least RC1

Hi,

Thank you for the list. I think you are right -- once those bugs are resolved, then we should be good for a proper release. Thank you for the handy triaging.

Can you guys give me a hand with those bugs?

Merc.

So where are we on 6.x release plan? The new maintainer could you please comment?

Hi,

I think this is a great message, I want to bump it up.
Do we all agree that I should deal with the list above?

Merc.

Yes this is a good start atleast to get a new Beta out. In addition there are existing patches that you can commit. And we can take it from there.

Hi,

Well, we have a problem. The Drupal.org infrastructure people won't turn User Karma back to me, although the same crap happened -- no commit, nothing --.

Not sure what to do.

Merc.

Any thought where we are on this? is there a list that we should focus on first to get stable 6.x out?

suscribe. IMO drigg is ready to RC1 or at least beta!

I read your comments on user carma, so I assume this is solved and you continue to the development of Drigg. hopefully.

Priority:normal» critical

Anybody using 6.x version? DO you feel it is stable enough to run in production? What major issues you are seeing so we can work together to get 6.x release out?

#12

drupallogic - August 20, 2009 - 20:26

I tried 6.x

Was not happy with the language support. Some Turkish characters don't work. I have mentioned to Mercy.

may I make a suggestion?

Move the project status to RC or at least beta to increase the flow and usage of users, while warning them of the issues still undergoing changes in the main project page.

This change will increase the usage of the project and its user base to the point where QA is possible and shared between a large group of poeple.

As long as it stay's as DEV only those among us developers who as the time and effort to research dev modules can add and improve to the project.

Beta or RC1 means exposing it to the general Drupal public. Just make sure you warn them of the 'bugs' that kept it in dev form for so long...

@mercmobily,
if you agree, could you ateleast release 6.x beta or rc1 version as suggested by tommeir?

If merc not available, could any one of the other folks with access to CVS do this?

@ajayg

I confirm #342297: Story's URL: The URL is not functioning! for specific URLs and #350218: User warning: Unknown column 'n.type' are fixed. So drigg 6.x is ready for 6.0-1.0release (or atleast 6.0 beta 1).
I have upgraded my 5.x drigg site with 6.x-1.x dev drigg, 6.x-1.x dev user karma and 6.x-1.x dev Extra voting forms. And it went quite smoothly (and these are actually 2 upgrades : test+production)

You may need to change the theme that comes with drigg. Since 6.x already has updated jquery you may have to comment that part out as instructed in page.tpl.php. I just removed those lines from page.tpl.php
