hi there:
I have downloaded a couple of themes here that have 3 columns in the demo pics, however I dont see a place to activate my theme for 3 columns. The themes am trying to use are democratica, friendselectric and kubric; Can anyone please help me and tell me where to do it.
Today is my first ever drupal installation, so forgive me if this is too NOOB of a question.
Thanks

blocks area
Maybe a search would help in the handbooks section but in admin part you can easily configure blocks whether to be displayed in right or left..

Empty = Invisible
With any of the themes listed, if you look at the source you'll discover that the div or table column is being generated - but it is empty. You'll need to go to block adminstration and configure at least two blocks so that you have content in both your left and right columns.
The styles are all 3 columns
The styles are all 3 columns in the sense that they have 2 sidebars and a center point for content. The sidebars are not as much customizable on a per-node basis.
The above is not entirely true: Look at the sidecontent module to create a second column. It's not exactly ideal but it can be used with one of the sidebars.
You can also look at my dashboard module to create a static page with 2 column content.
Both are available in downloads->modules from here.
