Description

Hi,
I have a serious multi language problem with IE 6.0. I have set up the site in English and German where English is the primary language. For the frontpage I have two nodes where one is the translation of the other. Now selecting the frontpage with firefox 2.x, 3.x, Camino or Safari on Mac or Window XP everything works fine. Clicking on the Language selector the respective node is presented on the frontpage.

Using IE 6.0.2900 sp2 this does not work at all! In my case just the German node is presented on the frontpage (Change of language in the browser does not change anything). Also other nodes are not shown in the other language (English) when clicking obn the Language Selector (even when the correct ink is displayed in teh status bar) but not always - somtimes it works ... And- if logged in as admin - everything works fine with IE 6.0.

IE 6.0 may sound outdated but many of our (potential) clients do still use this browser and it is crucial for us to have our site properly displayed on this browser.

My installation: Drupal 6.8 with the following additional modules:
admin_menu, captcha, cck, de-6.x-1.0-rc1, diff, i18n, languageicons, nodewords, pathauto, pathfilter, print, translation_overview, transliteration, views (all with the most recent version 01.01.2009)

The theme I use is andreas02, latest version.

If you'd like to verify the above described behavior, here the url: http://www.november-ag.ch

Help is very much appreciated.

Cheers, Rolf

I also see this issue on your site, though it only seems to occur on the front page - the language switch and default language work on node/27, for example.

This is probably better placed in the support forums than in the issue queue for Drupal core, as it could be one of a number of modules you have installed.

Title:Critical incompatibilities with IE 6.x» Locale block language switching in IE6
Component:language system» locale.module
Priority:critical» normal

Confirmed that this is intermittent and may not be a core issue.

Better title and not critical unless we know we the issue lies first.

Hi, thanks for committing the problem I have. In the mean time I realized that using pathauto or also just using the URL Alias possibility provided by core, caused complete malfunction of the language switcher in IE 6.x and 7.x. Firefox and Safari still worked properly. Then I cleared all aliases (and disabled pathauto) and now the problem is again the frontpage.

From my point of view there is a serious problem with the IE x.x behaviour.

Thanks for your support.

Rolf
