How do you find out what is happening with the 4.7 project?

I have searched and can find no mention of a likely release date. (The search for - release date 4.7 - returns "The word 47 was not included because it is too short.")

Is there any test area setup? I am very interested to find out what is happening but not much info available that I can find.

Thanks in advance for your help....

There will be a release candidate within 2 weeks, I believe. You can download and test the current "4.7" at any time, however, here:
http://drupal.org/project/Drupal%20project/cvs

It rocks, it rocks, and it really rocks. There are still a number of bugs, however, so any testing and bug reporting that people do is really welcome and helpful.

I'll take your word for it. I can't wait to try it out for myself.

Do you know of any test sites?

I have installed the cvs version a week or so ago on a test site and it seems to be very lacking in functionality from my working 4.6.3 site.

like someone else here said "always use a test site"
permit me to add "backup your database regularly"

If you compare the 4.6.3 base install and the cvs base install you'll see that many features have been added. There's a whole new module (contact), free tagging taxonomy vocabularies, blocks can go into any region on the screen, and tons of little stuff. Most importantly, the way all forms are built has changed, meaning module writers have far more power. So you'll only start to see some of the real benefits of 4.7 in some months, when module writers figure out that they have a great new toy available.

we get lots of duplicated bug reports. check http://drupal.org/project/issues?projects=3060&states=1&categories=bug before you post!

and, as always patches are even more welcome than a bug report.
