I am thinking if instead of using nodes as a basis for private messages, how about using comments.
A node in this case would represent a conversation and will have a user-reference field which will determine the users involved in the conversation.
The first message would be the first comment to the node.
Subsequent messages are the subsequent comments.
Advantages of this method is that we can use modules such as "Printer, e-mail and PDF versions" to email or print out a complete conversation.
Other advantages includes ability for the module subscriptions to be integrated so that users can be subscribed to a conversation.
What do you think of this?

Jkello commentedOh yes, one advantage I missed out is that comments have the inbuilt functionality that strangers, without logging in would be able to message (comment) by leaving behind their email address and name.

rszrama commentedI like the idea, but it's kind of out of the scope for this module.
