Thanks for modr8! This module should be in core. :)

I would like to request the ability to "Approve and promote to front page". Without this, a moderator would need to take more steps to promote a node. This would require another access role as "moderate content and promote", so there can be be two levels of moderators.

I would second this... I dont have a need for it at the moment, but might soon.

Couldn't you just edit the node type, and select "promote to front page" and "in the moderation queue" (under workflow default options) for creating new nodes? So when you "approve" a node in the queue, it will automatically promote to the front page. Works for me.
