For us in Europe, who are used to multi-lang sites, it would be nice to be able to set language.

Great suggestion - marking postponed for now, maybe targeted for a point release down the road.

locale.module lines 270-289 look especially relevant. Would also require validation of whether multilingual support is enabled for selected node type.
