has anyone looked into make this compat with vertical tabs ?

I'm not aware of specific testing that has or has not been done. Submitting information about the incompatibilities including browser, platform and screenshots will help in getting attention for the issue.

well FF3 and winxp/vista/2003....basically any modern browser for web2
the js is all over the place, the menus dont line up vertically.
you might have to end some divs and start new ones for the custom menus, ie isolate

The new version of the theme 6.x-2.0 is completely re-written and should fix this.
