Hi,

What could be the best approach for building a community website with more groups. I have a few ideas but since I am a newbie when it comes to drupal, I need some ideas from you, guys. anyway here are my 2 ideas on how to approach this.

1. Use Organic group module
2. Use subdomains each has it's own installation of drupal - 1 subdomain + drupal for each group
2 Use organic group and subdomain - redirecting subdomain to the url of the group (The only difference of this with the 1st method is for the group owner would appreciate their own subdomain and it will be easier to directly access their group site.

Kindly give advise on what could be the disadvantages and advantages of building a group website using these method. Suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

If it were me I'd go with organic groups and the http://drupal.org/project/subdomain module-- this way you get the best of both while only creating one site for maintenance purposes.

Yeah I thinks this could be a better approach. I couldn't find any documentation for subdomain modules, though. any idea where i can find them?

The README.txt file included with the tarball contains the installation instructions. That's the only doc i know of, but it's often useful to browse through the issues queue as well.
