Oh-So Yummy. Where Food Meets Tongue

Hello Everybody!

My friends and I have been blogging about food reviews in San Diego for the past 3 years now. We have been using the wordpress system to post and archive our reviews. Unfortunately, the degree of customization for wordpress was lacking for our purposes and I decided to look into other means of managing content. I looked into Drupal and found it to be absolutely amazing! The learning curve was high for me at first because I had no idea on how to begin nor knew the best practices for building a Drupal site. Luckily for me my friend helped me get started and I've been experimenting and improving my skills and techniques ever since.

I am not a programmer but I've been able to accomplish so many features on my site without a strong knowledge of php programming and mysql. For the areas that I did need to tweak I was able to find solutions from the large and very helpful Drupal Community.

I'm using Drupal 5.x right now. The reason I choose this rather than version 6 was because my friend said there was more modules available on version 5.x for my needs. Some of the key modules I am using on my site include Views, Gmap, CCK, reCAPTCHA, Panels, and Fivestar.

Please take a moment and check out my site at Oh-So Yummy!

Hi Dennis,

First off, a very clean and nice UI. Btw, what did you use to accomplish the featured flash content on your homepage? I've been looking to find a module of this for quite some time... Any tips on how to set it up?

Hello Yeeloon,

Thanks for the comments. I actually hardcoded the flash into the page.tpl.php file. It only shows on the homepage because of the <? if ($is_front) { } ?> code. I tried various ways of getting flash into drupal too but to no success. Sorry I couldn't be of much help. Btw, I like your site. It has a professional and polished feel.

Dennis
