I'm currently writing something very similar under Drupal 6.x and want to make it the Drupal 6 version of this.

My module does not user 'metaWeblog.newPost', however. I mainly use it to post to another Drupal sites, so I uses services.module at the other end, but we can make it an option.

Is it possible to be a maintainer of this project?

Yes, you know have cvs commit access. Let me know if there's anything else. I got a new job (drupal unrelated) and don't have much time for my modules anymore.
