I am a new to Drupal. I have a site mostly built (great software BTW). I have a PDF file I would like to put on the site for users to download. I have read many posts but am not familiar enuff with Drupal to discern what I need to do. Is there a concise "How to procedure" somewhere that a newbie could get his head around. Many thanks in advance.

Enable the core upload
Enable the core upload module, enable attachments to one of your content types then create a node of that content type and add the pdf as a file attachment.
Also see http://drupal.org/handbook/modules/upload.

pdf download
Fantastic!
Thanks Worldfalz
I guess my confusion was over the upload/download definition.
Spoke too soon
Sorry, I spoke too soon as I am a novice. When I built the page as admin, it displayed fine of course. However, when I logged on as an authenticated user, and went to the page, there was no sign of any pdf attacment anywhere. Just the page body was there. If I could get just a bit more assistance, that would be great.
Windows XP
Apache2Triad
Drupal 6.8 - Barlow Theme
IE7 and Firefox
Whenever different roles
Whenever different roles don't behave as expected, the first thing to check is permissions. On the permissions page, check the 'view uploaded files' permission for authenticated users and you should be good to go.
