Big problems with 5.x-1.x-dev 1/11/09 version

On dev site: When I first installed and ran update.php, double padlocks appeared, but only on the group uprofile fields - not on the individual fields. I deinstalled and tried to roll back by copying the module folder from my production site back to dev site.
After deinstalling latest version from dev site and copying the module folder from the production site to dev site in an attempt to roll back, single padlocks appear only on group fields serving only to collapse and reopen blocks, not to activate the popup. Can't get padlocks to appear on individual fields no matter what anymore!
Very wacky behavior - thanks heavens I always do this stuff on the dev site first! (I should mention I'm using Nodeprofile / uprofile with APK.)
