node reference easy insert

could we do something like this for inline tags based on the node_references for the page?

with or without tinyMCE-specific integration ( http://drupal.org/node/339876 )
between imagefield, node_reference and weblinks, a way to handle inserting inline links and images in a standardized way like this seems like the ultimate way to handle images and links in a cms.
