To be able to use that functionality you need to be using the latest DEV release.

Hi, I used the January 9, 2009 - 20:16 dev build, but still doesn't work, a new user is still not subscribed to the newsletter. Using also the latest simplenews dev version.

Could you attach a screenshot of your settings page?
Otherwise a list of the settings you have sset for simplenews on register would help.
