mailman

I have a rather puzzling problem. I have mailman_manager-6x-2.2 and user_mailman_register-6.x-1.1 installed.
When logged in as admin, clicking on "my account" - "edit" - "mailing lists register" takes me to "Mysite/user/1/edit/user_mailman_register" and shows the mailing list subs/change subscription page - however when I log in as a normal user (different name and password) and follow the same procedure, the link is the same (but with different "user number") and gives a "page not found" error.

Anyone any ideas please?
