It sounds like this lines up users with taxonomy and creates permissions that way, whereas Taxonomy Access lines up roles with taxonomy. Is there an advantage to this module? Are there any other differences between this module and Taxonomy Access?

TBP also allows inheritance and delegation of permissions, so you can assign permissions admins for every term in a taxonomy.
I'm thinking also in a more granular level but it may be food for DNA.module
