Show total bookmarks for nodes author

Ok I know that views_bookmark is no longer being maintained so I thought I'd post this as a forum topic. What I'm looking for is a way to join tables and get the results of how many bookmarks are made of all the nodes made by a user.

So say user A has 3 nodes which in total have been bookmarked 31 times I'd like to output the results on his or her profile page.
