Obviously I'm missing something simple here. I created a new user under user management, expecting that this user would automatically have the "authenticated user" role, but this user seems to have all superuser permissions. How can I assign the "authenticated user" role to this user? From what I have been able to find, there maybe should be checkboxes for the existing roles on the Edit User page, but there aren't. I don't need the autoassign role module because I only want one other user in addition to the superuser. How do I assign a role to an existing user?

By default all users have
By default all users have the "authenticated user" role. All additional roles such as "super user" have to be manually added, unless you have a module to automatically do it.

Ok, so right. I had granted
Ok, so right. I had granted authenticated users access to the administration menu because I thought this was necessary for them to access the other functions they were allowed to do, and this made it appear that they had full superuser access. Thanks for answering a dumb question.
