Anyone know how to send an author of a just created post back to the same post? As it is now, the author is sent to the homepage... any ideas?

What you are asking for is the normal behavior of Drupal. I would start by checking the contrib modules you are using to see if one of them is affecting this.

Eureka... thank you! As it turns out, it was "Node Go To" module that was causing it to do this.
