Navigation disappears when viewing Albums and photos

I'm testing on the default Garland theme. When viewing the photos in one album and individual photos, the left sidebar and primary navigation disappears and Gallery takes up the space. Curiously if I have a Syndicate block on the left sidebar, it shows that, but the Navigation menu disappears. Very weird.

So far this is my only complaint about the module. Everything else works perfectly, but I consider this issue/bug to be a major one. Can't have the navigation disappear and break the user experience.
