OK as I type this I've just noticed that disabling the devel and devel themer modules has resolved the issue

Don't know whether you want to make a note somewhere or perhaps endeavour to make them compatible

Just thought I'd let you and any others looking here that seems to be the problem

I have not used Agregado with Devel enabled before. Havent encounter such problems.

You might wanna try using Garland with Devel, see if its theme related problem or Devel.
