psynaptic commentedI've been having this "a" character problem with imagefield itself so I'm not sure if we need to do anything on our end. The first couple of lines of your patch do pretty much the same thing as the imagefield patch so I would be happy to commit that if we discover we need to and that imagefield does not fix this.
As far as the rest of it is concerned, although I sometimes do things like this on my client sites to ease usability, I don't think it's something we should commit to this project. You can always override the theme function anyway.

psynaptic commentedThis has been fixed in imagefield. I have tested the latest dev release of this module with the latest recommended of imagefield and it's working fine.
