Im on Drupal 6.9. I've tried the Tribune module which is great but I wonder if it uses up a lot of resources on shared hosting. Any recommendations for a chat/shoutbox module thats light weight enough for shared hosting?

It can require a little too much resources on some hosts, but I think you can dumb it down and have it less intensive. Plus, you really can't expect live chat without a chat server of some kind. This is why I use Tribune: it's not live, but it's simple and easy to work with. Granted, I wish you could customize it a bit more.
