After much fear and trembling, I managed to accomplish the upgrade from 5.7 to 5.15 today. I ran update.php and accepted the defaults and was pleased when a) the site actually came back up and b) it no longer saw red in the Drupal core.

After that, I began attacking the modules. Specifically, I need to update Brilliant Gallery, CAPTCHA, Colorpicker, Image assist, Javascript tools, Lightbox2, Print, RSVP, and Web Links.

I connected to my server and went into the modules directory, where I then did wget and tar operations to download and extract the require updates. Then I ran update.php again. I left the defaults again, and finished with no errors, but when I went into "Available Updates" again, it still says they need to be updated.

I know I've updated modules before, but it's been a while and I've put in a bunch of hours O/T at work this week, so I'm a bit punchy. Did I miss something?

and it still shows updates needed on those modules. Under Available updates, I also clicked "Check Manually" and it doesn't clear the warnings. :-(

with only one module: Panels. So I reverted to the prior version and noticed that the Update module was not asking for the new one --despite it already existed. (I knew about the newest version through the notification system).

Next day, Update asked for the newest Panels, I installed it the warning dissapeared.

Don't know if that's your case.
