Can't Update Certain Modules
gav240z - January 26, 2009 - 12:04
Hi Everyone,
I'm stumped with a problem with my Drupal 5.15 installation.
I have about 3-4 modules that don't seem to want to update.
Administration menu 5.x-2.7 won't update to 5.x-2.8
Google Analytics 5.x-1.6 won't update to 5.x-1.7
Page Title 5.x-1.1 won't update to 5.x-2.0
I've read through each of their readme's and can't see any specific instruction regarding updating from previous versions.
I just updated from Drupal 5.12 to Drupal 5.15 but was having the same problem with 5.12.
I have no idea what to look at next, any help would be appreciated.

replace module folder
Hi,
as far i do, i just replace the old module folder with new one, and then run the http://domain.com/update.php script to update the module information. thats all.
i could not figure out what you want to say :)
Regards, and Have a nice day.

thanks for your reply
Thanks for your reply, but I've tried removing the old module folder and replacing it with the new version and then running update.php
I've done this several times, but it seems it won't update.
I had no problems updating from Drupal 5.12 - 5.15 it is just these 3 modules that will not update to the latest version.
This did not work for me
I think we need to run Cron everytime
Ok my fault...with admin_menu but other modules still won't upda
Ok the admin_menu module was my fault. I did in fact have the previous version. So I downloaded 5.x-2.8 and managed to upgrade.
The other two modules won't update though, this is what I've done.
1.)
I double checked my versions of Google Analytics 5.x-1.7 and Page Title 5.x-2.0, I redownloaded them from Drupal.org to be sure.
2.) I deleted the folders google_analytics and page_title from my drupal/sites/all/modules folder
3.) I replaced with the downloaded versions.
4.) Ran update.php, it didn't show any database changes though. Still I ran the update and went back to site status menu.
5.) Still showing previous versions as installed.
Anyone else have this problem?
I do have an older version of the Advanced Forum module installed, I have not installed the updated version of this module yet, because of template changes that will require a bit of work on my behalf to retheme. I doubt this is causing the issue though.
Other than that my Drupal site and all its modules are up to date with latest versions.
Any help with this?
Anyone else had problems updating these two modules?
Should I remove their entries from the database and try run update.php?
Not an ideal solution but it may help.
Need help! Modules still won't update (even dev versions)
Ok, I'm still stuck with this one. I've updated the Google Analytics and Page Title modules so many times and running update.php has changed nothing. It still says I'm running an old version of both.
I'd file an issue against both modules, but it seems strange that both are doing the same thing. I don't know why this would be and I doubt it is the individual modules because someone else would have filed this bug in the respective issue queues.
I've also tried installing the dev version of both modules, but still won't update.
Please help, I've got no idea what to try next.
Has anyone else ever had a module that won't update?

Dont know if these modules
Dont know if these modules you are trying to remove and re-install support the uninstall thats at the admin/modules page tab but did you disable the module and then go to the uninstall tab and see if they were listed to uninstall? and then remove the modules folders ? and then reinstall ?
Thanks
Thanks for the advice, I tried that. I deactivated the two modules both the Google Analytics and Page Title modules. Then uninstalled and removed the folders. I then reinstalled the latest module versions and copied the folders over. Re-activated the modules and still the same problem.
No idea why very frustrating though.

Did you ever get a resolve to this problem? I am having the same problem with CTools, Admin_menu, nodereference_url, and img_assist. Tried everything you describe but am using d6. If you found a solution, any incite would be great!
