Content complete is a good idea. I have some good ideas for features.

Setting a weight for CCK Field or direktly a Percentage.
Example: In community's it is great to see a foto of buddies. I would set a higher percentage to the foto like 50 %.

How about theming? A CSS File or a TPL File.

Bundeling of 2 or more content types to one content complete Block.
If I have two content types as content profile and both has needed fields, the I have two Blocks of content complete.
One block would be nicer.

My idea is to create bundles of content profile fields with the role. Just one content complete block by every Role.
In the admin setcion you can add a dropdown with the roles for every content type.

I would also suggest AXAXy editing of the suggested field. Load the node edit form in a lightbox, but hide everything but the suggested field and submit/cancel buttons. Then the user can edit their profile node without breaking away from where they are.

Re: separate profiles - you might want to look into content_permissions module for field-level role access, depending on how complicated your profiles are.

Anonther Idea:

Integration in Vertical Tabs.

I am playing around with Drupal 6, content profile and vertical-tabs and Tabs.

If a content type, that is a content profile, more and more complex a structured design in fieldgroup helps a lot.
Vertical Tabs now let the fieldgroups very compressed and user friendly, but a User does not see all Fields that are required.

In front of any vertical tabs could be an icon like a red cross (not filled out required fields).

I think this is great solution and when content complete and vertical tabs is stable, I would sponsor this feature, because I have two projekts in planning where I can use this.
I will attach images later, how it looks like with vertical tabs.

I think Vertical Tabs needs to make some changes to its code, because at the moment it's not possible to open a sub-tab with a link. As soon as that is possible, maybe Content Complete can also open the right tab directly.

yeah, I looked in vertical tabs a little bit. currently this is not possible, but the feature is planned for D7 and vertical tabs is only backported.
I think this could be possible in some weeks.
