Great work with this module! I was just wondering if it's feasible to add scheduled email support, where a script will email the backup file to specified address during each scheduled run.

That way, even if the webhost goes down, you will always have your backup!

That's actually in the works - but for the X.x-2.x branches. 1.x is feature complete and stable, and all new development is happening in 2.x -- including a raft of options on storage, scheduling and emailing. See http://drupal.org/node/197444 for a discussion as well as a few contributed patches.
