Since I noticed that my Drupal installation was somewhat broken (XML Feeds didn't work), I started analyzing the situation a bit more.
I run Drupal 4.6.3. What I noticed when analyzing the page source of my broken XML. The pages always start off with a LF before the actual content continues. A living example can be downloaded from http://snoop.alphanet.ch/foo.xml
Notice the first line - it's a LF.
Then I checked a few more things, and noticed this issue with HTML output as well. That example can be download from http://snoop.alphanet.ch/bar.html.
When I deactive captcha.module, everything works.
Any ideas or patches for this problem?

arnabdotorg commentedcan anyone please confirm this? I can't find anything amiss. Maybe the captcha.module on your server has extra LFs around the php markers?

mousse-man commentedThat wasn't the case.
I even loaded the module into kedit, saved it, and then scp'ed it to the web server.
That didn't solve the problem. I'll have a look at the situation though as I have been able to reproduce the problem. Stay tuned.

mousse-man commentedRemoval of the spurious line feed after the closing php tag solved the problem.
