If content_taxonomy field is required, node won't update

I've got content_taxonomy (http://drupal.org/project/content_taxonomy) installed and have a node type with several Taxonomy Fields. The issue is that I can't update the node via the editable table view because I've set the Taxonomy Field to 'Required'. I don't need to edit the taxonomy fields at all, I just simply need to bypass them. For now, I've just made the fields non-required, but this isn't the best way to go about it.

Is the flaw in editablefields or content_taxonomy itself?
