Education/Career Profile Field module for Drupal 6

I'm trying to put together a small networking site for my graduate school, and want to figure out an easier solution for letting users enter their educational and career history. Obviously I could create custom fields for either the core profile or content profile module, but this isn't as flexible as I'd like it to be. These two development modules for Drupal 5.x are on the right track, though I don't think they were ever finished and I'd like it to be in one module if possible:

Of course, I don't want to simply take the ideas of those modules away -- I'm not actually sure of all the details of those modules and I don't know if they even work, but the concept is I think along the same line. But I would envision it being something like, but less complicated, than the Date module -- when adding CCK fields I'd like to be able to selection "Education" or "Employment" and then decide which subfields to include: name of university, employer, degree program, office, etc.

Obviously am willing to pay, and would appreciate comments on expected cost, timeline, etc.
