Content Type Configuration: Weight

I played around with this module back with the October 08' release and really liked the potential of it. I personally believe this should become a core drupal feature :) I LOVE how non-core features can be incorporated in like the meta tags, xml sitemap & cck field group.

My request though, is to be able to weight how the fields show up on the node page using the D6 ajax weighting drag & drop through the configuration of the content type. I realize it would be a bit involved but it would open up a whole new world of how the node edit page could be laid out. I noticed that vertical tabs will kind of mess up the order of how fields are displayed if certain things are checked and other aren't.
