I was also having a problem with username and post date appearing unexpectedly. I was using the global settings on admin/build/themes/settings and it was ignoring me! I was about to file a bug report, but thought I'd better read the handbook first, and it turns out I have to go to the theme-specific configuration page at admin/build/themes/settings/acquia_marina. I think this could cause confuse a lot of people. Is there any way to mitigate this? Maybe...

  • a warning on the global settings page?
  • the content-type-specific custom settings could be based on the global settings?

No other ideas I'm afraid!

This helped me out.

It was confusing, the author and post date kept showing up even though I disabled them within the global settings.
