Adding Scrollable Image Navigation Slidout Feature

I have an enhancement request. On several wordpress sites that I've seen, the lightbox feature has a navigation button at the top that when clicked slides down a scrollable tab of thumbnails. I have attached screenshots of the lightbox (the site it comes from is www.leftlanenews.com). It would be fantastic if this feature could get added. It allows the user to not have to click Next many times to get to a specific image once inside the lightbox or have to go back to an image in a gallery and relaunch. Thanks!
