Is there an email sent to the admin on a trackback or do I have to check it sometimes?

Unfortunately you have to manually check new trackbacks.
Maybe you could write down some code to use Drupal Triggers/Events to accomplish your needs.
If you manage to write some code or a contributed module (using Trackbacks API/callbacks) I'll add it.
