Have not been able to get a drop down style list for any exposed filters in Views2 for D6. When the view is previewed all I get in the exposed filter at top is a text box for typing a value. I really must be missing something here. I am sure someone has mentioned this before but have not found the answer. Any help would be much appreciated.

It depends somewhat on the which filter you're exposing. For example, taxonomy terms offer the option of autocomplete vs dropdown in the exposed filter configuration options (after you click the 'expose' button). For other filters you need to select 'force single'. Still others, like simple textfields, don't have the drop down option.

Thanks for you info. I tried some options based on taxonomy and is as you have described. What I am trying to filter is a user list tied to the nodes. In other words select from a drop down list a user/author to filter the posts only to that user etc. It would seem that would be an obvious one for the expose/drop down options. Maybe there is another way?

Ah ok-- took a look at the user name filter, and it seems it's now an autocomplete instead of a dropdown as in d5/views1. The only thing i can think of, is to look into theming the exposed filters.

but can you have drop-down list (with your taxonomy) on the block? just the drop-down list
