Postponed for now as I do not need this feature in D6 at present. Patches welcome!

Could anyone write a patch to port this? I would but have no idea how to. Have tried putting it through Deadwood, but doesnt seem to trigger.

I am in need of similar functionality as well. Unfortunately, I am not a strong coder and could not port a module. :( I have been looking for modules/solutions for 6.x that disable buying an out of stock product and have been SOL.

Here is a night's worth of work porting this module to d6. I believe it retains all of the features it previously had and it now uses CA in place of Workflow-NG.
This version supports out of stock per model for products with multiple skus, so if you combine this with uc_attributes and the 2.0 release of uc_aac (currently in beta) you will be able to have the "add to cart" button toggle with the "Notify when in stock" button as attributes are changed.
