Use a CCK formatter to output the slider. This is more in keeping with Drupal's standards.

What about a Views format? I think that would be more flexible where every resulting row would be one Panel and the whole view will result as a slider.

Possible, but then people would have to install views as well as CCK... and I don't really see how it would be more flexible?
