As the tradition is with modules which do the same thing, can you justify the existence of this module compared with http://drupal.org/project/get_content_type ?

I did not know the get_content_type module when I created Node type Views. If I need to justify why I develop modules for Drupal and make them available here, I should better stop doing so.

Maybe I didn't express myself correctly. You can develop and release whatever GPL module you want.

The point of my question was that it is strongly recommended to tell people whether there are any particular reason for them to choose a module over other modules which do similar things.

Additionally, sometimes developers choose to mention some reason why didn't join forces with other existing projects.

Your answer here is fine by me.

I certainly prefer installing a working module than developing one myself and it is better to join forces than to duplicate functionality. I'll update the module description and point users to the get_content_type module as an alternative.
