I wonder why the "check boxes/radio buttons" widget is not available for node reference field.
When the number of nodes that can be referenced is not too big, it could be useful.
For some users it would be more usable than the select list or the multiselect (which anyway I'm using).

Too old now, way past the time when we will add features to D5 version.
