I wonder, if it would be possible for Drupal 6 version, to offer an auto-completion field for terms/nodes/users/whatever.
But if you select a term, this term shall not be "attached" to the node, but only displayed/linked.
So this would be a nice feature, that you don't have to type the links + titles of nodes/terms/users manually.

Hmmm... I wrote this once already... And it worked in exactly the way you're describing... It's probably on my dev version I'll take a look and see if I can't integrate it into the current Drupal version. I'm not sure it's going to be easy though as my dev version is sooooo very different to the current dev on here...
