the forums are created by

forum.tpl.php
forum- topic.tpl.php
etc, etc.
you will need to copy those to your theme directory from the forum module directory, and modify accordingly. requires knowledge of html and php. start by looking into custom theming.

He said he's using UIE forum so that's unlikely to work unless UIE forum uses the same templates as core forum.
OP: Asking in that module's issue queue would probably be better. There aren't a lot of people using that forum.
