To avoid risk of exposing informations (Security note in README), you can add a secret passphrase who must be present into an URL parameters or permit to restrict access to several hosts/IP/Domains

This is already implemented.

If you read the README.txt you will find the -u paramater for the check_drupal script, and the user agent settings for the module do exactly what you said.
