I am running a site using drupal 5.15.
Whenever u user signs up, confirmation mail goes to SPAM folder instead of INBOX.
I tried to used SMTP module too, but no success.
My web host is not a blacklisted one.

Thanks for replying.

All the time for all users or only for certain ones? You might want to double check the blacklisting thing? ;)

Maybe write a note on the rego page that the rego email might end up in spam so if they don't receive it within [x] time then check there? Slightly messy solution maybe but it's all I can think of for the moment, sorry.

This is a common problem. Have a look at a past post about it on my site here: http://zunob.com/content/gmail-and-spam-be-weary-google-power :)

I'm being pedantic but you wanted "wary" ;)

And I don't think they're doing it deliberately.

Sorry for being late in replying.
All the confirmation e-mails goes to SPAM,not for certain users.
But strange thing is that sending e-mails through contact form does not face this problem.
My web host is a newly brought one. How can it be black listed ? Do you have any other option to check out for black listing properly ?

Thanks in advanced.

Think it may have something to do with the fact that registration emails look like spam emails.

Spam email says something along the lines of "Hey check out these photos! [link]" or in some cases I've seen "You've been invited by [some person you've never seen before, or someone on your contact list whos' been spoofed] to join this site! Use htis promo link! [link]"

Registration email says "Thanks for signing up at site! Here's your one time login! [link]"

Maybe there's some hardcore anti-spam scripts that only see the structural similarities and thus mark it all as spam? That's my only guess seeing as I'm not very good at this kind of thing, and your contact form stuff is going through ok. I don't think I've encountered this problem as on both the sites I run there have been successful signups :S

still contact form sends as spam. Only if you use the admin@domain.com as sender (@your e-mail address) , it goes to inbox instead of as a spam. So how to handle the different sender to deal with spam thing ? please help..

"I'm being pedantic but you wanted "wary" ;)"

Indeed, you are right, and I don't mean in being pedantic. It has been corrected. Thank you.

"And I don't think they're doing it deliberately."

No, not deliberatly. They are just being slack, uninterested or incompetent.

Thanks again for pointing out my mistake.

Where can I find out what you wrote on that page?

I did change the title and URL after the above comment about my misuse of weary to mean wary. :)

The original post still wrongly contains weary in the URL!

This link will hopefully work: http://zunob.com/content/gmail-and-spam-be-wary-google-power
