When a user visits example.com/book.

They see a list of books but a 'Add New Book Page' link is missing. The Blog module and forum module don't have that shortcoming.

I get around the issue with a custom templated views page however I think that out of the box, the example.com/book url should have a 'Create New Book Page' link so that the book module is easier to use especially in multi-user sites.

Hi, this might be obvious, and forgive me if you already checked this, but did you double check the "User management->Permissions" section under "Book->Create New Books" to see that your desired user role has this permission?

@ #1 I have been using Drupal 5 and Drupal 6 as the root account and unfortunately the /book page doesn't list options to add a new book.

yeah having the same problem it doesn't allow us to create the outline of the book....

I had this problem as well. I ran the update 6000 for Book and am now able to create a top page and add node under this page. So far so good. I'll add any other problems I find to this feed.

Hi Guys.

I'm a newbee at Drupal - but starting to figure things out.

Using Drupal 7...

However, I am trying to force the creation of a new book, when creating a document of a specific content type or when clicking on my custom menu link "Create new book".

Also, I am looking into a way to hide the table of contents for this page (thereby forcing the user to create a new book).
