Blank white screen after Asset module upload

Hi,

Immediately after uploading the asset module, I get a blank white screen everywhere on the site.

In trying to troubleshoot, I uploaded the files in the asset module folder in stages, refreshing between each upload. The problem appears after uploading the file - modules/asset_content.inc

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm using php 5 and the lastest drupal 5 installation on a dedicated server (I'm also using ffmpeg and my memory limits are set higher in php.ini). Everything else is working fine, and this is the first time I've experienced this problem after a module upload. I did also try the stable release version 5 of asset module, with the same result.
