Is it possible to have an Autocomplete Menu for Taxonomy terms from a single vocabulary, where the
results are directed to /taxonomy/term/tid ?

That is what 'default' path of version 2 of Taxonomy Menu does. I just release the newest BETA today. It has gone through a ton of testing and will probably end up being the stable version.
