With the latest 6.x-1.2 (Feb 09) version when i go to "admin/content/node-type/my_cnt_type" i see a "Default Parent" select field. the problem is that i can select individual nodes there, not content types. I think it could be more useful (at least for me) to select another content type as default, or have both options.

I'm not sure what you mean. The default parent has to be a single node because nodes have to be children of a single node. Do you mean that you'd like to restrict node types to only be children of certain other node types (ie: type 'picture' can only be a child of type 'gallery'). If that's the case, then it is a feature that has always been on the nice to have list for me, but I've never done it because it's not as simple as it sounds.
