I am creating a multilingual site. When ever creating a new node, I would like to have the interface language as the default language for that content type. Is there a way to do that?

yes, we can have the selected lang as the default lang, for the content editing
But just for your information, it can not be the website lang.

Website default lang is different, and it can not be changed while editing the content.
